Retaj Hotels & Hospitality is a Qatari real estate and hospitality company. Retaj operates its hotels under Islamic law, meaning, for example, that no smoking or alcohol is allowed at any of its hotels. The company is best known for its rapid expansion of Shariah-compliant, alcohol-free hotel properties throughout the Middle East. In September 2015, ''Gulf News Journal'' published a list of the top nine Shariah-compliant hotels in the Gulf Region. Retaj occupied four spots on the list. The company was started in 2004 in Doha, Qatar. The company's mission is "To celebrate and regenerate the Arabic traditional hospitality and service delivery, and to be recognized as the number one employer and a leading hospitality management group." The company has hotel properties in Qatar, Turkey, Comoros Island, and Saudi Arabia. ==Owners and leaders==
Retaj is owned by five Qatari investors.〔 The chairman of Retaj is Bin Mohammed Al Johar. When he spoke about his plans to invest more into Turkey, Al Johar said, "In the commercial sense, we need to consolidate our () brotherhood.”
